Lamination films

Lamination films for document protection

Laminating protects valuable documents from environmental effects and mechanical abrasion. It can also protect against forgery, that is why ID cards are laminated.

The question which is raised again and again: which laminating film for which application?

In particular, the environmental effects outdoors affect media and laminating films in different ways. If the combination is incompatible, differing expansion of the materials can cause the edges of the print to be unprotected.

For that reason, the print media (other than paper) and the laminating film should be made of the same material: polyester films should be laminated with polyester, vinyl films with pvc-laminating films.

Polyester laminating films are generally less expensive, but can be used only on flat surfaces. Cast-laminates, however, are usually much easier to handle and can be used on curved surfaces.
